"Life is an ever changing picture,
so look, look again. Only then will you see."

About the Artist
Vibrant, distinctive and mesmerising to the soul, Nicky Carole’s contemporary abstract paintings entice and tease one’s senses. She is inspired by nature, the universe and raw emotions.

Born in Devon England, Nicky moved to an idyllic village situated on the River Tamar within the county of Cornwall. Passionate and devoted to her craft, Nicky gathers inspiration from the flora and fauna which surrounds her.

Self- taught, there are no templates, borders or boundaries. We experience the full force of Nicky's artistic talent. Nicky has spent many years creating techniques with encaustic wax which she fuses into hypnotic images.

Passionate, joyful and darkly compelling, Nicky’s finely honed skills bring us images raw and pure. Each relates to the mood Nicky experiences at the time. Like her feelings, there are no rules only the release of the moment into her art. Through Nicky’s extensive experience, we share that moment.

Nicky has enjoyed success displaying her work in solo exhibitions and many galleries. She has also completed multiple commissions resulting in her work being held in private collections internationally.

My mantra is, “Life is an ever changing picture, so look, look again. Only then you will see”. I am enthused and inspired when I hear people describing a piece of my work in so many different ways. One monochrome piece was described as a forest scene, a battlefield of Samurai warriors and a cave full of stalactites and stalagmites. It fills my heart to hear people seeing through their own eyes and enjoying. This is what drives me.

I create my pallet from my rainbow of pigmented waxes. Each one speaks to me and sings its own verse. Through my many years of painting experience as an encaustic artist, I forge my wax into a visual and tactile expression of the natural universe.

Encaustic is a Greek word meaning ‘to burn in or infuse’ It is an art first practised by the ancient Greeks in the Fifth Century B.C. I have chosen to use this ancient and beautiful art form, creating abstract and contemporary works of art.

Some of my paintings have names although some are pure crystalline expressions, these defy written language. Therefore they are to be experienced rather than given a title.

Like an explosion waiting to happen, my being flows and dances from my pallet. Art is my being, love, joy, anger and frustration mixed with the ether. I form and tend my art like a gardener tends her favourite bloom.
